Plans for new 15 metre 5G monopole in Springfield Road, Grantham

A new 15 metre 5G monopole could be installed in Grantham.

An application has been submitted to install a 15 metre high monopole and associated works in Springfield Road.

Cignal Infrastructure UK Limited has submitted the plans as part of upgrades to the network of telecommunications company, Three.

The proposed monopole would be installed opposite Springfield Road’s junctions with Walton Gardens and Victoria Street.

The application said: “The proposal would not result in demonstrable harm to the character of the immediate or wider area; but are vitally necessary to ensure improved delivery of service.

“Capacity and coverage are the key drivers for this new 5G installation. The proposal would respect and continue to maintain the character of the area.”

The application added that options for locations of the monopoles “are extremely limited”.

It continued: “The site selection process has also been influenced by the numerous vertical elements of street furniture distributed around the vicinity of the site including street lighting columns.

“The height of the pole has been kept down to the absolute minimum capable of providing the required essential new 5G coverage.

“The site has been selected on a wide adopted area of the highway in a position that will not impede pedestrian flow or the safety of passing motorists.”
