Zambo del Norte village gets solar street light project

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is undertaking solar street light project in one of the villages in Kalawit, Zamboanga del Norte.

The implementation of the project is through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS), a poverty alleviation program of the national government implemented by the DSWD.

The DSWD regional office said in a statement Monday, August 21, that the recipient of the installation of solar street light project is the village of Paraiso in Kalawit town.

The DSWD said the project is expected to be completed by the end of August.

The groundbreaking of the project was held last Thursday, August 17, with Kalawit Mayor Salvador Antojado, Jr., as the guest of honor.

The cost of the project is P436,224.84, with counterpart funds of P160,000 from Paraiso village and P5,500 from the municipal government.

Antojado said once the project will be completed, the residents in Paraiso village “will no longer be afraid to walk at night because the road is already well-lighted.”

Antajado has thanked the DSWD for the implementation of Kalahi-CIDSS in his town.

Antojado highly appreciated the process implemented by Kalahi-CIDSS, because he used to be a Barangay Sub-Project Management Committee volunteer and knows how its projects are selected, processed and implemented. (SunStar Zamboanga)
